October 31 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Manoa Campus, UH Manoa Outreach College

SCEP Live Online presents The Fall International Storytellers Festival: Halloween Edition. With the following artists: Alton Chung (The sobbing spirit of Punahou Street) A local boy, Alton Takiyama-Chung grew up with the stories, superstitions and magic of the Hawaiian Islands. It tells stories about Plantation Days, the Japanese-American experience of WWII, Asian folk tales, Hawaiian legends and, of course, ghost stories. He has been a featured storyteller at national storytelling festivals and international storytelling festivals in the Cayman Islands, Singapore, Vietnam, India and Thailand. / Kathy Collins (Okiku and the Nine Plates) Since the age of 13, Maui’s daughter Kathy Collins has performed as a storyteller, stage and film actress, radio and television personality, comedian, host and dancer. She is also a newspaper columnist (The Maui News) and a freelance writer. Along with her pidgin-speaking alter ego, “Tita,” she has “told the story” across the state and the continent, from the Hawaii Book & Music Festival to the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival. / Jeff Gere (Testing God) Jeff was the theater specialist for the Honolulu City and County Parks Department, where he created and produced the Talk Story Festival and a television and radio series for 26 years. He has toured Hawaii, the mainland and abroad since his retirement in 2014, until the virus struck this year. He’s been to every Hawai’i book and music festival and now he gardens and talks on his computer screen. / The Fall International Storyteller Series is presented in conjunction with the Hawai’i Book and Music Festival.
