Ordr, SpotOn integration allows sites to fulfill mobile orders from point of sale
Ordr integrates with SpotOn, allowing venue dealerships to fulfill mobile orders from existing POS system
On-site app Ordr, which lets fans order concessions from their seats, has teamed up with payment company SpotOn. The partnership will begin at Minor League Baseball’s Triple-A Gwinnet Stripers, where SpotOn will integrate its cloud-based technology with Ordr’s point-of-sale system at the team’s baseball stadium in Lawrenceville, Ga. The integration will allow a site’s concession operator to fulfill mobile orders from their existing point of sale.
SpotOn’s point-of-sale hardware and enterprise software are already deployed at Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium and Chase Field of the Arizona Diamondbacks. By collaborating with SpotOn, Ordr intends to evolve minor league sites into eventually more visible teams and leagues.
Ordr, a 2021 Canada-based startup, encourages fans to order food, drink, or merchandise from their app, pay in the in-app shopping cart, and have the items hand-delivered by riders or designated for express pickup. In a recent Oracle Food and Beverage study53% of fans said they would rather order food and drink through an app than wait in line and 33% said they would pay a little more for the service.
Asked by SportTechie in May what problem the company is solving, Ordr CEO Jade Chiles said, “Pending. Specifically, missing important and memorable moments you paid to see [and instead] spent time wasting in a queue grabbing food or goods. Our app lets you take control of your entertainment experience, whether it’s a bite before an engagement or the last five minutes of the fourth quarter.”
Ordr is currently raising a seed round of $650,000 and has received funding from Rick White of Fusion-IO. Last September, SpotOn raised a $300 million Series E round led by Andreessen Horowitz and simultaneously acquired Appetize, a mobile ordering system that served 15 MLB venues, 27 minor league stadiums and 10 NFL stadiums, including MetLife. Stadium, Paul Brown Stadium, Empower Field, Lincoln Financial Field and M&T Stadium.
