October 26. Today’s birthdays
1953 – The Moiynty-Shu railway line extending over 438 km is put into service. Its construction began in 1947. It is expected to link the Karaganda coal basin and the northern regions with southern Kazakhstan and the states of Central Asia.
1999 – Kazphosphate LLP is founded with its head office in the city of Almaty. It is the only company on the territory of Kazakhstan to offer a complete range from mining to delivery of phosphates.
2005 – Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev awards Tatar President Mintimer Shaimiev the State Prize for Peace and Progress of the First President of Kazakhstan.
2007 – The first Altyn Zhurek awards ceremony takes place at the Abai Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
2010 – The National Academy of Education of Altynssarine publishes the six volumes of the Anthology of Global Reflections on Pedagogy in Kazakh.
2010 – The National Accreditation Center of Kazakhstan becomes the signatory of the ILAC Mutual Recognition Agreement (ILAC MRA).
2011 – A monument to a famous writer, playwright and one of the founders of Kazakh literature, Zhussupbek Aimautov (1889-1930), is revealed in his native village of Bayanaul.
2015 – Kazakh astronaut Aidyn Aimbetov becomes official ambassador of the international exhibition EXPO 2017.
2018 – The feature film Amre from Kazakhstan wins the Silver Screen Award at the Hollywood Film Festival in Los Angeles.
