This week is the last chance to submit short films to you for the Galway Film Fleadh 2022, back on the streets and theaters this summer.

The Galway Film Fleadh 2022 will take place from July 5-10 this year, with an always exciting mix of features and shorts, as well as the film market, talks and workshops.

For short films, the festival offers three Oscar qualification categories: Best Short Fiction, Best Animation and Best Documentary.

Winners in each of these categories will be eligible for Oscar consideration, without requiring a theatrical release.

Winners over the years include Lenny Abrahamson, Kirsten Sheridan, Ken Wardrop, Rebecca Daly, as well as DOP’s Michael Lavelle, James Mather, Tim Fleming and many more.

The closing date for late applications is Monday, May 9 at 5 p.m., for a fee of €35.

Film Fleadh accepts all types and genres of short films under 40 minutes, as well as locked raw edits.

In addition to screenings, the Fleadh also offers panels and networking events tailored to short filmmakers, providing opportunities to meet international and industry guests.

For the past two years, the festival has offered a hybrid or fully online program of events, but it is hoped that a regular cinema will be in place this summer.
