Amman International Film Festival invites film submissions for third edition
The deadline for submitting films and projects is April 30, 2022.
The Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film (AIFF) is now accepting films and projects for its third edition, which will run from July 20-27.
Speaking about the upcoming edition, Princess Rym Ali, President of the Festival said, “We are proud of the success of AIFF so far. It proved, among other things, that Jordan has earned its place as a cultural meeting point for filmmakers and moviegoers, and where creative talent can flourish.
The AIFF dedicates its screens to budding directors, actors, screenwriters and editors, with four competitive categories awarding distinctive prizes – The Black Iris Trophy, in addition to monetary rewards to all winners.
To be eligible for the third edition, films must have been released in 2021 or 2022 and be Jordanian premieres. Specific regulations apply to each category.
The Amman Film Industry Days (AFID) – the professional branch of the festival – will take place in the same period. AFID organizes masterclasses and workshops and includes three pitching platforms: two for projects in development and one for films in post-production; beneficiaries will receive in-kind and cash rewards. Juries, made up of Arab and international film professionals, select the winning films and projects.
The festival also includes a First & Latest section, in which an acclaimed filmmaker will talk about his cinematic journey, share his experiences and discuss what he has learned.
The AIFF was the first international film festival in the region to be launched at the height of the pandemic, in the summer of 2020, using drive-in cinemas in the Abdali district and an open-air theater in the Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) as primary venues to ensure a safe cinematic experience; these places have grown since then.
