AIFF Invites Film Submissions to International Competitive Section

Submissions are now open for narrative and documentary feature films for debuting international filmmakers.

Amman International Film Festival – Awal Film (AIFF) has announced its second edition, which will take place from August 23 to 31, 2021.

Jordan’s premier international film festival returns for its second consecutive year, having been the world’s first international film festival to begin in person during the pandemic in August 2020.

The festival is currently accepting films from fledgling filmmakers for its international competitive section.

International films will compete for the Audience Award, which will award the winner the Black Iris for Best International Debut, in addition to a monetary award.

Submissions are now open for narrative and documentary feature films for debuting international filmmakers. To be eligible, films must be released between 2020 and 2021 and be Jordanian premieres and must be its director’s first film.

Nada Doumani, Director of AIFF, said: “The international dimension of the festival is essential, even if we focus on Arab cinema. Newbie directors often make masterpieces and our audience here in Jordan is made up of movie buffs, eager to watch quality movies from around the world.

Registrations for the films will close on June 28, 2021.
